Touch a folder, Win7 changes its modified date

In Win7, whenever I click on a shared folder, it immediately does something (thumbnail creation?) and changes the modified date. So if I select mulyiple folders, they all have their modified date changed to the same time. Is there a known way to stop this from happening? It's a little annoying right now.

    Thanks,

Did you find an answer to this issue? I'm new to Win7 from XP, and I find this seemingly fundamental change very annoying.

    Thanks.

    Solution

Looks like Win7 creates or modifies the thumbnail (thumb db) file when clicking, I still dont understand the timing or reason but if you disable thumbnails on all folders this should fix it.

Go to Tools --> Folder Options --> View Tab --> Always show icons never thumbnails. This should stop the system from writing/modifying this thumbnail file.
