cannot connect to the internet !

heya all,
didn know windows 7 forum is out there.. m i glad to find it.. ... my problem is i cannot connected to the internet.. this is how my internet works.. its adsl.. we have a line distributed ..all we have to do is plug in the cable ..enter username and password on the software provided by the university and get connected..
now, everything worksfine ..if its a lan, wireless etc etc.. just not the adsl.. earlier it was working properly ..just before i formatted my pc.. it required 'network 2' to use it.. i am not sure how i did it..it took me 2 days after constant failiure to finally get it working..but now, its the same problem again..
windows 7 just does not allow the software to connect .. i have disabled the firewall and given the software the full priority.. and have disabled all the unwanted network adapters except 'broadband adapter' .. i am too tired its already been a day .. and i am no where close...

update your system information, and let us know what programs you have installed and running, they might change how windows deals with those kinds of connections.

Need details like are you online as admin or?

Make sure you have the correct drivers installed for your network card, windows 7 did not know what my LAN port was, I had to manually show its drivers in order to get online.
