Networking server/media center set up

Hey all.
I just built a new machine with the intent to use it as a HTPC. I want to be able to access files on this machine wirelessly with my laptop & my PS3, only within range of my wireless router, not remotely from another location. The new machine is running Windows 7 x64 & my laptop is running Win XP Pro x86. Is there going to be any kind of compatibility issue communication between these two machines &/or the PS3? And how would I go about setting this up? Any tutorials out there? I've searched on here but haven't come up with exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance for any help everyone!
