Sharing printer on Home x32 to Pro x64. Can't.

Hello there,

I swear, I browsed the forum to find a solution for my problem, but maybe it is too evident, or I missed it somewhere...

I want to share my MP540 printer on a PC with W7 Home x32 to use it on my other PC with a W7 Pro x64.
The printer seems shared fine on Home x32 but I coudn't able to install it (nothing found when Pro x64 PC try to browse a shared printer on the network).
My network setup has nothing special. A simple router and it's done. Earlier (when both machine has XP x32, there weren't any problem (just clicked on the printer to share, and voila, the other PC found it, no need to change/click/setup etc. anything...
I found an option window on x32 to install some drivers (?) (where you can tick a "x64 ....blabla") but it needs some install disk (maybe .nfo files?) for the printer.

I have move the printer to my x64 PC, plug in it, and install went fine. So, both machine probably has the appropiate drivers...

But now I'm stuck.

Hi mods --I've posted this solution so many times perhaps you can "Sticky" it or move to a tutorial.

Actually, it was two W7, not an XP and a W7.

But whatever.

The problem was with the 'homegroups'. My W7x64 PC wasn't connected to the W7x32 PC's homegroup.

Buuh.. At last. It works now. W7x64 found the shared printer on my x32 PC.

Heres a tutorial I wrote a while back with the same instructions

I agree that Homegroups works perfectly. When there is a problem with it it's always either a user error, hardware problem or third party software conflict such as AVG which breaks Homegroups on a regular basis.
