Win 7 Permission fails on VPN Drives

Just got Mini-laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. After a lot of issues I can now connect to VPN without loosing internet access. However when I try to access a mapped drive on the remote network I get "Access Denied". I can see the drive but cannot get access. Exact same setup on Windows XP Pro machine works well.

I assume some part of the credential is not being sent at login but don't know what.

Anyone have an idea?
