you must use the CD that came with the program or download from the website.

To install windows there are plenty of tutorials on the web as to how to make bootable USB sticks etc.
Install Windows 7 From USB Drive/Pen Drive

For other programs e.g. office, just copy the CD/DVD onto a stick and install straight from that. That's how I installed Office 2007 on an Acer Aspire One.

Thanks everybody for the quick responses I totally overlooked the fact that my wife also gave a My Book external HD with TB of storage, I just copy the CDs to it and just plug it into the net book USB slot and load it from there, although I used an 8 GB SDHC card that did the same thing.

Certain programs will not install
This applies to my Acer Aspire netbook running W7 Starter. When attempting to install TeamViewer (and some other apps), I get this message: "A required privilege is not held by the client" Is this a limitation imposed by W7 or, perhaps, Avast confining it to Sandbox?
