    file sharing help

hi there, there are two computers in my house, a desktop downstairs and a laptop upstairs. I want to be able to share files between the two computers.

the two computers connect to the internet via the same connection. the downstairs computer is wired directly into the router via ethernet, and the upstairs laptop picks up the connection via wireless.

this laptop runs win7, but the computer downstairs runs win xp.

please can someone help me how I can share files between these two computers? In the past I remember when using XP and also when both computers were connected wirelessly being able to relatively simply set up a home network in xp on both comps and then being able to file share, but now it isn't so simple.

is it even possible to do this cross platform?

thanks in advance for your help!

    J

This tutorial covers the set up for both machines pretty well. Yes it's possible and fairly easy to accomplish.
