Windows 7: Wireless doesn't turn on or connect!?!?

Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8.1 Pro,

I would have been happy to check out the Belkin for compatablity. Like I said, the firmware updates have been working pretty well but I still don't know what version Belkin you have.

Windows 7 Home Premium

Well I looked up my belkin and I didn't see it listed as capable for windows 7. So I got a linksys WRT54GS2 and I can't even manage to connect to the internet on either of my laptops. I can only connect on my asus laptop with the cable plugged into the router. My other laptop connects just fine with the belkin router. The other laptop has vista on it.

Windows 7 Home Premium

Good news. I'm writing this post without having my cable plugged into my laptop! I ended up reinstalling windows 7 and wiping everything out. Then went into bios and made sure the LAN turned on when booting up. Now when I turn my switch on for my wireless, I immediately pick up my router

Windows 7 (64bit), Windows Vista 32, Windows XP 32

It's amazing how many people are NOT reading the problem. If you're switching your LAN switch ON but the OSD says it is still OFF, the problem has NOTHING to do with the router. I have a similar problem with mine. I have had my router since I got Windows 7 through the free upgrade program, and it is still working now. For some reason, my wireless card is showing up as disconnected no matter what I do. I've tried reinstalling drivers (completely removing the old ones first), unplugging my Wired LAN, tinkering with the BIOS, booting with the Switch on or off and switching after boot up. NO WIRELESS at all. I've even tried Fn + F2, which is supposed to toggle wireless (on non-Best Buy models, this combination toggles the blue tooth setting, which the Best Buy model does NOT have.). I will let you know if I manage fixing this issue, but I have a sneaking suspicion that its more than a bad switch.

EDIT:: I found the culprit. DO NOT install Wireless Console 3. It shows up in ASUS's update list for our model (both myself and my wife have the G51-RX05, which is the Best Buy exclusive model). Uninstalling the Wireless Console 3 (Which did not uninstall Wireless Console 2 when it was installed) fixed this issue after a restart. While I didn't test Wireless Console 3 after uninstalling 2, 2 works fine and I see no reason to upgrade it.

That is the beauty of W7 for you right there. You just need to turn on the wireless adapter and all will fall onto place.

Okay so by default, the HDD turns off after 20 min of inactivity. It's too short and gets annoying having to wait for the HDD to spin up every time I want to search the drive for something. So I set it to 60 min. But it doesn't turn off after 60 min. I go to sleep and when I wake up and use...
