    I checked a few times and there's no update for the Linksys router. My sister was on facebook. and now im fiddling around with my broadcom adapter :X.
    Question: what is 802.11n preamble and which setting should i use. Mixed or Greenfield mode?

    there is an update trust me but assuming you bought this router recently im sure it has the latest firmware (most of the time).
    The answer to your ? is choose Mixed, not Greenfield mode.
    Did you check if there's an update for the wireless adapter on your laptop?
