Vista & 7: Problems with Filesharing & Printers

I have a Belkin wireless 'N' Router which is connected through a cable connection to my desktop with Vista OS. There is also a wireless enabled HP 110 Mini Netbook with Win7 Starter Edition OS on which connects to the Belkin router. For some reason when I click on 'Network' and right click and hit explore from the Vista computer to look at the Netbooks files it will not let me... both File Sharing and Pulblic File Sharing are turned on. The networks are both configured to "Home Networks". Also I am unsure how to get my printer (A non-wireless enabled HP Photosmart C4200 which is wired to my Vista computer) onto the network for use on the Netbook. This concerns me as it says all USB printers should so up in the network by default. Does anyone have any suggestions or help?

Thanks for any help

windows 7 and vista

Hi there

I have the same issues and am not willing or able to just upgrade my other machine to w7 to solve the problem (dammit I have a lot of pain invested in my Vista machine). Please can we continue with this query?

I have searched ALL over and have tried every way to set my home office network up from any number of forums - this is my problem:
I have a PC running w7 which connects to a modem and serves as the wireless network (via a Ralink RT61 Turbo Wireless LAN Card).
I also have a laptop running Vista which connects with no problems (on the laptop, I have internet access, can get my mail and am able to print via the PC).
I have allowed for all of the necessary permissions for file sharing sharing etc. (there are no access passwords set) and have shared all of the folders I want to on both machines.
My problem is that I can see the shared folders but cannot access them from either machine. I get the same error message on both machines when trying to access a "shared" folder "[laptop] is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this service to find out if you have access permissions. The specified network name is no longer available")

Pu-lease can you shed some light on this? This really gets in the way of productivity and I really cannot afford to just upgrade to 7 (and remain convinced that this problem is a conspiracy to get me to do so).

Many many many thanks in advance
