If people are able to setup their home network just fine...it proves that Windows 7's networking works just fine...

It is normally a misconfiguration of a user...
    Word!

Alot of the times they do too much when only abit is required, as per first line in my sig.

These remarks do not help at all!
anyway i figured it out. I started with a clean W7 install and I noticed that W7 by default switches password protection on in network sharing.

it is working now but one needs to know what to look for as there is no wizard.

Other issues? Far more obvious likely due to how things are configured. The one thing lackiing the article there that would be useful would be some troubleshooting steps. But that would easily take up about two more blogs pages.
That's pretty much what I meant when I said "other issues".

    Strange problem

Hi, I am having the following problem:
I bought a laptop with win7 64bit. Connected to the PC without problems. Now I reinstalled the windows in both computers (on desktop I put 32 bit on laptop 64bit.).
From the desktop I can access the laptop files, but from the laptop can not. Anyone any ideas?
    Thank you in advance

    Welcome to Seven Forums!

You probably should have started a new thread vs adding on to a very old one.

But either way let's see if we can help.

Here are a couple tutorials that should get you started.

Homegroup - Change File and Folder Sharing Settings

File Sharing - Between XP and W7 (and vice versa)

We have an extensive collection of tutorials that cover a number of subjects. You'll find them all here:

    Good Luck!
