How to share Fax modem Windows 7 64bit

    I have 3 computers....

Main one connected to Wireless G Router via cable
2nd and 3rd via wireless G PCI card

Main has a Motorola Fax Modem connected via Com Port

I have no problem sending fax out with main computer but 2nd and 3rd can not see the modem.

2nd and 3rd joined home group made by Main.

Anyone kindly know how to share this modem so my 2nd and 3rd can send fax...tia

To get what you're after you'd probably have to use the main computer as a WiFi AP serving the other two machines to share access to the fax-modem; and even then it depends upon the nature of the fax-modem.

That would almost certainly mean buying additional AP hardware, and is perhaps also somewhat beyond the average computer users skills to set up properly.

If you were to use something like a Bluetooth network with a BT fax-modem perhaps you could do it that way - yet by far the easiest solution is to fit additional dial up fax-modems in the two additional workstations :)

Thanks for prompt reply, I was told there is a software solution to this....if that is the case...which software, I don't mind paying for it if it is economical. Tia

If I had to do what you're looking into I seriously think that I'd investigate buying three BT PCiE cards and adding one to each machine, and use them in conjunction with a suitable BT Fax-Modem which could be made accessible to all of them...

However it'd be like using fairly up to date technology to enable yesteryear technology, I personally have never needed to use fax in many years now

First-I'm not using my W7 box for faxing so I can't test any of these suggestions.
On my XP machine that I fax from - faxing is a printer choice.
Try this: Go to Devices and Printers, right click on the fax modem, select sharing if it is listed. If so from one of the other computers try adding a network printer and see if the fax modem is offered as a choice.

Thanks, I got "sharing is not supported for this type of printer"....I google for some solution and it seems XP allow fax modem sharing but Windows 7 disabled it.
