Problem connecting to internet only at startup

With winxp i booted into my desktop and i had internet. Now, with same static IP connection as always, I boot into the Windows 7 desktop and i have no internet access.

To get internet access i have to either disable and enable the connection, or uninstall the network card at device manager and then it will be found again. Once found or re-enabled i do have internet access. anyone have any ideas?

Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8.1 Pro,

Control Panel > Network and Internet > On the left-Change adapter Settings > select your LAN > Properties > TCP/IPv4 > Properties

Is your machine set to obtain IP address and DNS server automatically?

I'm sure you have already tried the Gigabyte site or Windows update for your Windows 7 mobo drivers.
GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - Driver - GA-P35-DS3R (rev. 2.1)

Are you using a router or connected directly to the modem?

You could try to renew the IP lease by using the commands on the page below.

i downloaded and installed the most recent lan drivers for my motherboard v2.0 and the strange thing was that on reboot I had internet access according to the tray icon, something which had not ocurred before at bootup. everything on paper was great, but there was no genuine connection to surf or download mail etc. so i did a rollback to the former drivers which is also a Windows 7.sys file and i had instant internet. so i'm stumped.

Are you using a router? Firmware updates may be required.

I was about to mention you should try installing those drivers again because it seems to be the only thing that has made a difference.

You could try it connected directly to the modem and see what happens, that would eliminate the router which is only compatible with 32 bit systems by the way. See this in the link below.

Are you using Windows 7 64 or 32 bit?

You should try to connect directly to the modem and see if anything changes.
