I had problems with a Linksys wireless ethernet USB card on Windows 7. I ended up buying a Ethernet wall adapter. At least is is not OS/driver dependant.

I was using a linksys wireless card and router just to have a solid connection. It was working fine on Windows XP. So, the problem is mostly a driver issue. Linksys have to make new drivers for Windows Seven.

I have the same problem as hls1966 except that my internet discrepancy is less predicable (anywhere from 2mins to 6 hours)

I don't know what vmware is so I'm not sure I have it, but I've only installed the windows updates, drivers, firefox/flash pluggin, and steam.

I just installed the driver off: Linksys by Cisco - WUSB100 Support
and it has let me be on for 57mins with no trouble yet, but I'm not sure if it has fixed it.

I will post if I have the problem again, but any suggestions of what could be wrong would be greatly appreciated.

    Same problem...

I have the WUSB100 and i have the same connection issues with Win7 (64bit). The computer appears to work fine for a random time (2 min to 24 hours). Then the connection stops and shows "Limited Access" or no internet basically. It says I'm still connected to the home network and the router is still working. My laptop can still use the router and resetting the router does not reset the problem.

If I select "restart" or "shut down", the shut down process takes FOREVER and then does a blue screen crash dump. The crash screen shows a problem occured with the usb adapter. I tried putting the wireless adapter into other USB slots and Win7 would detect the Linksys USB and create a new connection (Linksys USB wireless connection #3...#4...#5) for each slot I tried, but it would never connect correctly. This problem persisted even after successful restarts (no crash dump). Putting the usb adapter back in the original usb slot brings back internet connection.

The driver I'm using is from the Windows Update site. Under System - Device Manager, it shows the driver as 3.0.3.0 with a date of 8/26/09. This matches the version number that is listed on Linksys support website for the WUSB100 but the date is different -- 11/09/09.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

you may not have read the full thread, but your problem is definitely a driver issue. have you installed your motherboard drivers?

Yes, I have installed all the motherboard drivers. There is no specific 'chipset' drivers anymore listed with VIA on their website. I have since disabled all my extraneous on-board peripherals from an input on this related thread.

    VIA Hyperion 4-in-1 drivers

But I had the same connectivity issue within 24 hours. The BSOD crash dump says BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER which leads me to believe its because of the Linksys WUSB100. Any other suggestions?

I'm still having a problem with the Linksys adapter all with current drivers and integrated peripherals turned off. I've posted my minidump folder under this thread:
