Wireless IP Configuration

Hi,

I have just upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 recently but currently I'm face with a problem.

After connecting with the wireless net at home, I have no internet access. It says "Wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration".

I read on websites that I should change the TCP/IPv6 and TCP/IPv4 to automatically acquiring IP address and DNS server address, but to no avail. I tried using the CMD but don't really understand how the IPCONFIG/ALL and IPCONFIG/FLUSHDNS work. I also tried changing the last 3 digits of the IP address to a higher number but also to no avail.

Done all that I could do, but I still can't access to internet though I could connect to the wireless.

Can anyone help? Your effort is much appreciated. =)

Hi and welcome

couple of things to try
Are you using a firewall or antivirus? disable them to test
use the ipconfigs like this first ipconfig /flushdns then ipconfig/renew
in cmd type ping and the routers ip

Hi, first of all did you changed the SSD name? Do you have password ? Did you tried without pass??? Can you login in router ??? What system do you have ??? What router do you have ??? Don't mess with cmd, it's useless... Disabling/enabling the wireless network adapter is just enough... did you updated the driver ??? Try updating with manufacturer drivers... not the one from windows update.... And post more info about your system...

I turn the Public and private firewall off, disconnect and connect again but still can't get the internet access.

Then the ipconfig/renew, there was an error saying: An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection - The operation was canceled b the user.
And: An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface - the system cannot find the file specified.

Then I ping the IP address: 4 sent, 0 received -> 100% loss.

Anyway this is the wireless adapter I'm using: Atheros AR928X Wireless Network Adaptor. The driver (though I don't know what is it) is updated using the Windows Update.

Hi, sorry but I'm not very tech savvy. Initially when I bought the laptop, I could just on the wireless and get connected easily without much problem. The problem only occurred when I installed Windows 7.

As it's wireless from my home, I have the password to the wireless. What do you mean what system do I have? This?

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz
4.00GB RAM
32-bit Operating system

I'm using Buffalo Inc. router, Motorola modem? Is this what you're asking for?

How do I update with manufacturer drivers?

When you were using vista, did you have to use static ip as well? Not sure how old your router is, but some routers can't handle the dhcp broad cast flag (this happens for vista, I am sure the same goes for w7). To handle the flag issue you have to do some registry editing. We will get to that, if necessary.
I assume you are using the drivers assigned by windows. If so, you should get the drivers from your manufacturer's website, and update the drivers with theirs.
You may run into the issue where it may not let you update the drivers by telling that the latest one is already installed. Use this method to update the driver:
Device Manager, the Wireless Card, Update Driver, Browse computer, pick from a list, Have Disk, then locate the unpacked folder with your drivers. if there is isnt a w764, try the xp64 driver.

Oh man all these look Greek to me. I'm not sure whether was it static IP address or not, but I assume so.

The card I'm using (which I found under PCMCIA adapters) is O2Micro OZ711SP1 MemoryCardBus Controller. Is it this card? If I were to update the driver manually, does it mean I have to download or buy something? Manufacturer's website as in Fujitsu website? My laptop is Fujitsu.

The card you using is under Network Adapters... What about visiting the manufacturer site of your laptop and downloading the drivers for windows seven...

Hi, I went to the Fujitsu Driver website and downloaded the driver there. Using a thumbdrive, I install the new driver onto my laptop but still, I could not get the internet access. I could get connected to school network too, just can't access the internet.

I'm using Windows 7 32bit software.
