    router connection not possible

Hi there. Every so often I cannot connect to my router, which is a Belkin
I can ping it all right, and I can go on the internet; but when I enter the ip address, there is an error message about no connection. What I have done in the past is to turn off the router and back on. Then bingo!
Any ideas why this happens and if there is a different way other than to restart the router?

    Hi and welcome

what does the router think your IP is? have you tried going to the web page for it (usually 192.168.x.x)? is there encryption? firewall port blocked?

    Router connection not possible

Thanks for the reply, Ken J.
The Belkin router has an ip range starting with 192.168.2.1.
When I do ipconfig, it says I am 192.168.2.6

next time it happens try this ipconfig/flushdns then ipconfig/renew. I suspect a dns problem but with static IP? I need more data on
    If you ping msn.com, success?
CAn you log onto the belkins web page and check the config. things like rules for games, open ports, dns entries.

You might want to reset the belkin to default just to check.

    Let me know

The IP address of the router should be the first IP from your network, usually it's 192.168.1.1 (or maybe in your case 192.168.2.1). If you cannot access it with

    http://192.168.2.1 or https://192.168.2.1

    Here is the reset instructions.
