Sharing internet to xbox 360
Does anyone know a good tutorial on internet connection sharing to your xbox 360 using an ethernet cable from windows 7?

Thanks it looks simple enough but my windows 7 install doesn't show my ethernet "local area connection" anywhere, only wireless? Hmmm?

You can connect your Xbox over the wireless connection instead (here's the tutorial for that). It doesn't involve sharing your PC's connection but I'm guessing the reason you asked in the first place was to avoid buying the Xbox wireless adapter :P
This is the only other ICS configuration they provide: PC->Router/Gateway->Xbox (rather than straight PC->Xbox). Check the diagrams. I'm not sure if you can substitute that first step of the connection with wireless, though, and still send the connection to the Xbox via ethernet... that's what you're trying to do, right?

I am trying to do internet connection sharing like the article describes, connecting the xbox to the pc via the ethernet cable.

I should have asked you this already, but what is your current internet setup?
Please note that the screenshots for Step 3 and Step 6 in the Xbox.com tutorial are NOT consistent with each other. If your primary internet connection is wireless, then you should right-click on that connection in Step 3, rather than try to find a Local Area Connection as shown in the screenshot.

I am connected wirelessly from my pc at the moment and you're right it is inconsistent that is why i am a little confused. I find no option to "share" the wireless, there is no share tab anywhere.
Edit > Went into devices and my ethernet port says this "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" That would be why it is not showing?

This article explains the Code 10 error. Probably driver-related, especially if you upgraded to Windows 7 on your existing computer. I personally never even use my ethernet... and as for the 'Sharing' tab not showing up, the Xbox tutorial mentions that:
We can rule out the first one because you obviously have wireless and ethernet. And if you have admin access to the wireless network, I'm pretty sure you can enable sharing. But if you're mooching free WiFi off the neighbors like I used to do in college, you might be outta luck :/ Hopefully a network pro will stumble upon our little thread here and offer some deeper insight.If you don’t have a Sharing tab, it means:
- Your computer doesn’t have two network cards.
-Or-
- You’re trying to share a network connection that can’t be shared. Repeat step 3 with a different network connection.

Well I read about wireless ICS at MSDN but it looks to be a rather complicated process and one that I'm not familor with. Although it appears to be possible it's not exactly a built in feature with the standard GUI.
It would be much easier using a wired connection it looks like. I'm still a bit confused on what the Op is trying to do here.
This page shows the normal ICS setup procedure for Windows 7.

Hey guys!
Saw this and thought I'd chime in if that's ok.
I'd like to get a good feel for how things are connected.
How do you connect to the internet now with your W7 machine? You mentioned wireless. Could it be a DSL or cable modem to a wireless router, then the W7 machine is wireless to the router?
Is the Xbox connected to anything now? Wireless or wired.
I appologize for the questions. I just need to visualize the current configuration. I'm a visual kinda guy...
