    Remote Desktop Connection

Didnt know where this should go, so figured here would work easy enough.

I want to connect through RDC to my desktop so i can be lazier, i know yeah yeah, and not have to move all the time to change media, or netflix on my desktop. I -can- access it freely though RDC, i have it set up. But, is there anyway to keep the recieving computer logged in at the same time? Having to get up and re-log in pretty much defeats the purpose.

I believe this is what you need.

Login with RDP, without bumping current session.

Alright! That worked wonders, but unfortunately it didnt quite do what i wanted it too. It would be perfect for troubleshooting and such, but it actually makes a second user, i dont quite need a second user of the same User account, i want to be able to manipulate what is -currently- on the screen. Is that not possible with keeping them both logged in?

My goal is to be able to adjust and change things from my laptop, to effect my desktop, without havening to get back up and re-log in on my desktop. The fix you guys found for me, which is awesome, allows me to run two seperate instances of the same user account. What i'd like is, one single instance of the same user account. So say i was moving the mouse on my laptop, i could see it moving on my desktop monitor, instead of it logging out, or being on a different Purgatory like session.

I think you might have to install RDP programs such as Radmin. this will let you control the desktop of one machine from the other without effecting the other's session.

    Check it out

    Hi there
'fraid as others have posted you'll need a SERVER OS to do what you want.

Actually you don't technically have to logout of your RDP session -- instead of LOGOFF use the DISCONNECT instead. - This will leave the remote user still logged on to the home computer - although when you get home you'll see the Computer Locked logo so you *might* have to enter a password.

The advantage of DISCONNECT as opposed to LOGOFF is that if you start a batch session / a program on the remote computer it will continue to run when you DISCONNECT your RDP session.

note also you can avoid having to enter a password at logon time by going to RUN on the main menu (accessories ====>run) enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2

uncheck the little box Users must enter a user name and password to logon to this machine

You'll then be presented with a screen to enter a default user and password - the next time this computer is re-booted you'll bypass all the logon screens and be automatically logged on as the user you specified.

    Cheers
