Looking for simple instructions for home network.

Hello,

I wish to network the pc's in my house with a Linksys Wireless Router in order to use the printer connected to one of the computers, can someone provide me with some simple instructions, on how to.

Connect a;
Windows Xp Home - grant permission to computer and drives.
Linksys WiFi
Norton 360
Epson Stylus Printer ability to print directly from Windows 7.


To a;
Windows 7 - grant permission to computer and drives.
Wired to a Linksys WRT54G
Bitdefender Total Security

I just want a simple fix on how to set up the two different operating systems, that for the past two days, I have been unsuccessful with being able to set the two up together with conflicting Anti Virus Software also.

Easy - make sure both belong to the same workgroup and enter the security details of the 7 router into the XP router.

Ok, I have done this already, I can view folders in XP, although I have not given permission to all the ones I can see for now will do, as far a Windows 7, I can see a Icon for XP but can not access it in Windows 7? At all...

I have ran a diagnostic and after a hole lota trial and error with how to configure Norton 360 > My Network setting, I was finally able to get it to allow but I get hung up on some Firewall / Network Security function, that prevents me from accessing it.

My bad, I already been having it configured for sometime, -XP- works perfect with the internet connection that Surewest a California ISP provider, provides.

I have tried this already, I found from a different post where a character named
jimbo45 had given the suggestion to \\COMPUTERNAME\PRINTERNAME on the computer you wish to allow to print from, but still I do not seem to have permission to either view from Windows 7 or access from Windows XP? I can not seem to figure this out.

So the question is, is it with XP or 7. Or is it with a Network Security setting with some policy, or better yet my Anti Virus software, I think it is a policy in XP?

Correct me if I am wrong.
