    Link Layer Topology Discovery

Browsing the internet I found that Windows has or had a Link Layer Topology Discovery view/function(?). Does this still exist?

I am not able to create a similar view. Mine is as per first image
. Second image shows LLTD view.

As usual I have to ask, what am I missing?

    Thanks and regards.

It says here it's included in Vista and 7

Also, I had to shut down all machines on my network and restart to get it working

Where does Windows get info for "Network Map"

Nope XP doesn't have it, Vista does though. The maps back then didn't work very well at all.

    More Coolness.

WinXP computers can be added into Win7 network topology map. At little work is required to install the update in WinXP SP3 but instructions can be found here: http://x3webworx3.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!E40FC8E37C2475AE!234.entry

    Tested, Works.

You never asked about getting XP to join the map. You asked why you couldn't get to the map in the first place. That is some hack to get that working, not exactly Msoft approved but as long as it works thats all that matters.

Thanks for posting XP network map join fix.

Truth is, I didn't know to ask if it mapped to WinXP. Once I found it didn't I found a solution and passed it on trusting it would be of value to someone.

Now I discover that the patch does not work with WinXP 64. Anyone have a fix for that?

    Thanks in advance.
