Sharing printer from WinXP Mode to Windows 7

    Hi all,

I have a Canon LBP-800 printer which only has driver support for XP.

So, after following instructions from this forum & the MS Eval Guide...I still haven't managed to get it working using XP Mode.

I've installed the printer in XP mode, shared it & then changed port to \\WINXPMODE\CanonLBP but this didn't come through to Windows 7. I can't print within XP mode either, although that's not a problem anyway.

Oddly, or maybe not, if I install the (not functioning) XP drivers in Windows 7 and change the port to \\WIN7\CanonLBP it does push it across to XP Mode using port TS0001.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...let me know if you need more info.

    Thanks

I'm sure you tried this already, someone had the same problem the other day and they said they fixed it by making sure the computer names were typed correctly. Sometimes you need to remember it's Username-PC don't forget the -PC part.

Unless you changed the computer name (EG: MSI-X320-7 is mine)

I just went over all the options again but I end up with...

Windows 7 Network & Sharing Centre >>> I can see both my Win7 & virtual XP machines, however clicking into XP machine yields an error: "Windows cannot access \\XP" (error code 0x80070035).

Windows XP 'View workgroup computers' >>>> I can only see the XP machine, clicking in shows my files/printer i'm sharing.

So obviously something must have gone wrong sharing, but I followed the various guides line for line...any suggestions???

If all else fails.... buy a new printer. They are pretty cheap now and days. You can take that old way in Staples and get a 50 dollar instant rebate for recycle...

I went here and this guy directly contacted canon and asked:

Cant find a driver for printer Canon LBP 800 for Windows 7

Before you can share anything you need to have the machines talking to one another.
