Network access but no internet

    i know it's a stupid question but did you do a restart also check network connections service

    Could it have to do with the profile? Normally when I plug a "home" computer into this network, I choose "public"

    It would have nothing to do with the profile.....would it?

    Yep, Network connection service = started / manual

    Sharing and Discovery

    To access them, you must click the Change Advanced Sharing options Windows 7 maintains three separate network profiles (Home or Work, Public, and Domain), and maintains separate sharing settings for each of the profiles.

    Yes, I indeed did. What did I do? Networking is not my strong point.

    make sure network discovery is on for all profiles
