    IP address conflict

Am on a laptop running XP because my new Windows 7 laptop will not connect via this ethernet connection.
I'm at a hotel so have no access to the hotels router. My new Windows 7 laptop won't connect via this same ethernet cable because it says someone else on the network has the same IP address. What am I doing wrong? I have tried several things but to no avail.
It connects fine via my home network either cabled or wireless with no problem. Not a static IP. All settings seem fine. Any help getting connected would be appreciated. Thanks

Try this page, it has a walk through that looks fairly simple.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...CP-IP-settings

    Or this one. http://grok.lsu.edu/Article.aspx?articleId=13184

Or with the command prompt which may be the fastest.

You may need to restart after performing any network configuration change.

Are you running Zone Alarm by any chance? If so you will need to uninstall it completely.

According to TechNet It creates a problem with the toredo tunneling interface apparently.

More info in the threads below.

Have you asked the hotel internet people if they can advise what you might need to do? From those ip details, it can be anything. Have you checked your device manager, connection manager to see if there are any issue with it at your end?
