Windows 7: Windows 7 x64 / XP x86 Networking Issue

Hello everyone,

I've been having some issues lately accessing my 7x64 machines from my XP x86 machine. It wasnt doing this before, and I don't believe anything has changed. XP x86 has no issues when trying to access my 7x86 machine, works every time.

Has anyone run into an issue like this?

Hi kris
Are you using homegroup for networking? mixed environments should be using the "workgroup" model. It is easy enough to test. create a new network using workgroup. if it works then you can disable IPv6 and kill homegroup

I am using the workgroup model. I currently have IPv6 disabled on the 7x64 machine as well as the XP machine. Still errors out reporting "the specified server cannot perform the requested action"

I also have the 7x64 machine using the Work Network profile.

i have two 7x64 machines, the XP x86 machine cannot access either of them.

problem solved.

rebooted the 7-64bit machine and networking to it in XP came back.

Very strange.
