New router and cannot connect properly

I got a new router and it has full bar connection, but it always have trouble connecting.
Right now I'm on a different person's connection because of it.
But I'd like to connect to my own connection.

what router make and model what wireless adapter are you using to try to connect we need as much info as possible please fill out your system specs

I have a comstar Wireless N router.
I used to have a Gateway G router.
It's only my laptop that's having problems with the internet connection.
I have a HP G61

Basically... what happens is:
Whenever I connect. It connects for maybe ten minutes up to an hour before it disconnects me.
Then when I disconnect it doesn't connect back.

ok in network and sharing on the left panel click on change adapter settings right click on wireless adapter and choose properties the click on the configure button go to the power management tab uncheck allow the computer to turn off this device to save power click ok

Hi KOSSIT, lets cover the basics.

1) Are there any driver issues that can be seen in Device Manager?
2) What is your wireless network security, is it WEP, WPA etc? and have you configured Windows 7's wireless connection to use the same?
3) Have your tried resetting the router, and recreate your wireless network?

It tells me the cord is either broken or not connected.
I'm looking right at it. It's connected and it's not broken.
