    Yep, same applies. :)

I don't know if you can get a USB-Parallel converter; but you can definitely get an RS232(serial)-Parallel, so all should be well. Net use works a treat with LPT ports as well (I've done this many times). e.g. swap COM1 with LPT1 from my example above.

Thx for all the help on this forum..and some from the hp forum, I finally got my network printer(HP Photosmart 1000 on a Host win xp pro) to work on my win 7 laptop.
I installed on BOTH systems the Deskjet 970cxi. Once I got the ps1000 working thru the 970cxi drivers on xp, the win 7 connected with it. I had tried the port changing thing and everything else I could think of. Finally got it working this way. The xp shows 2 printers (ps100 and dj970), but I have the ps1000(renamed) as the default for xp. Win 7 detects both, but only connects with the 970, so its set as defualt on laptop. Hope this helps anyone else with this problem.

cannot connect to printer error code 0x00000214

it's simply means you got the wrong driver bit, make sure you have the right 32b driver or 64b driver for the OS.

For example. when installing a network printer, it will only installed the driver 64b if the OS is a 64b. Now you're trying to add the printer on a windows7 32b you'll get this error code. simply find the 32b driver and it should work fine.
