What if I changed the lease time to a longer period and tested it that way?

Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8.1 Pro,

I would say that working with those settings may have an effect on this DHCP lease expiration problem. I wonder if there is an update for your server for Win 7 that might help also.

The network stack has definately changed for Windows 7 because these types of problems are very common lately. It could also be the drivers on the Win 7 machines, if you are running the default "auto installed" Windows 7 network drivers you should go to the manufacture web site and get the latest Win 7 drivers for your machine.

Certain ISP's also reset the IP address every 24 hours so you might want to check with them about what time that occurs and see if the problem relates to your dropped connection time.

Also from what I have read Eset security can also cause this problem to occur, apparently disabling won't fix the problem, it needs to be uninstalled. Avast and Avira and Symantic "Norton" can also cause this problem to occur.

Me again. I've now got a graph of my network utilisation to show the problems I'm having. Both cards have up to date network drivers and are auto-neg to 100Mbps, for some reason they won't go to 1Gbps even tho both cards function that way. One card syncs at 1Gbps, the other (Intel PCIe) does...
