Windows 7: wireless wep can't connect in x64

Windows 7
What if its another adapter?

Same problem - Windows 7, x64 bit, 'Windows Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration' error, when I boot after a gap. =(

You guys seem to have fixed the problem for your Realtek adapter. I thought I remember seeing Realtek on my lappy too, but I guess not.. it says 'Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN' under Network Adapters, in my Device Manager. I have a HP Pavilion dv2000 series laptop, used to have Vista, got Windows 7 as soon as was possible.

It does connect after a couple tries of Troubleshooting, so I don't want to risk it not working at all if I change something! Any suggestions, guys?

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Bit Build 7600

Hi I know this is an old thread, just I googled it as I have encountered the same problem when preforming a format after swapping mobo and upgrading HSF.

However after not too much playing around I was able to find a fix (as of so far)

I could connect on a WPA key as oppose to the normal WEP that all the computers in the house use, which made things arkward, speshly considering my PS3 refuses to connect to anything other than WEP. Therefore making this whole scenario serious business.

Installed the realtek recommended update via windows updat and all other various drivers its offers - won't connect WEP
So I installed the drivers on the driver disc from my MOBO (M4a785TD V -EVO) - Still won't connect WEP
Ignored everything and carried on upon the usual post format aftermath.
Checked windows update again today after leaving computer for a day or two (heavy weekend) and alas there was another realtek driver update available, installed, reboot, swapped key back to WEP, hurrah!! Sucess.

But like I said as of now it has been a success, and we all know what computers are like. If anything changes ill edit and post.
Just an update for anyone else who comes across this thread as I did, hope it helps.

I am using an Edimax USB wireless adapter, I have no PCI card installed.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Bit Build 7600

After reboot it has not completely automatically connected but has made me go into network and sharing, remove the network (managed wireless networks) and connect again.

Bit of a pain in the ass BUT however, it does connect via WEP.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Bit Build 7600

No wait, ignore everything I said, it was all wrong and right at the same time.

It WAS working, but then decided that it didn't want to anymore and reverted back to its old ways. So then I tryed the fix mentioned in this thread and completely ****ed my computer.
Proceeded to uninstall the ralink USB wireless adapter via control panel blah blah, re-installed, connected fine. Went on windows update, found the driver update sat there waiting for its next unsuspecting victim, right click hide, **** off windows you do my nut.
