Cannot connect or change my network

I am not sure what happened but I can no longer change back to my "Home" network and the default is "Public". It also lists me as having "No connections are available" when I am clearly connected to the internet. Without my Home network setup I cannot stream media to my television or gaming devices. I tried tried almost everything without installing Windows 7 again. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I added photos of my many problems.

    Thanks!

I know that this sounds like a dummy thing to do and if you call the cable compan they will tell you the same thing....

Unplug your cable/DSL for at least 5 minuets and unplug your router for 5 min.... then plug in your cable/dsl wait for full boot up, and then after that then plug in the router. See if anything comes up.

If that doesn't work unplug your cable/dsl... Just do a hard reset on your router. There is a reset button in the back of the router tha reqires a bobby pin, hold forat least 20 seconds or until you see the lights flash indicating there has been a reset.... once it does a full reset, then unplug the router, plug the cable/dsl back in and once the cable boots up, then plug the router back in.

I just reinstalled and rebooted my router. I will take your advice and shut it all down for a couple of minutes. This is extremely frustrating because i am sure it is such a simple fix. Thanks!

Well neither solution worked. I don't understand what happened or how it even changed to the "Public" network setting.

that is strange. that would have at least got you back on the internet...

can you plug your computer directly into your modem to see if you have any internet?

if you dont have any internet then it might be our ISP?

another thing you can try is go to device management and uninstall and reistall your network interface card drivers

I can completely connect to the internet, that works fine. I just can't change my network form "Public" to "Home" because no network is listed.

The problem resonates with the picture below. I can't change back to my Home network and will only allow me to be under a Public network. The public network is what's restricting my computer sharing functionalities.

I found this at TechNet, It should help you to change your network to Work or Home.

I have a real solution to CHANGE PUBLIC NETWORK to a HOME or WORK NETWORK . I had the same problem. I don't know if the thought behind it was to treat dynamic networks as hostile environments, or whether the documentation that stated "First time joining a network - you can select HOME, WORK OR PUBLIC " actually meant first of ALL networks & not per adapter, but anyway:

    1. DISABLE ALL NETWORK ADAPTERS
    2. ENABLE THE ADAPTER THAT'S ONLY SHOWING UP THE UNCHANGEABLE PUBLIC NETWORK
    3. IN THE NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER, SELECT "CHOOSE HOMEGROUP AND SHARING OPTIONS"
    4. CLICK ON "WHAT IS A NETWORK LOCATION?"
    5. SELECT HOME/WORK
    6. RE-ENABLE ALL OTHER ADAPTERS

If you were to plug the Main computer directly into the cable modem/DSL modem... would you get a valid IP address with that network card... we just need to do a process of elimination.. so see if it the router or NIC
