In order for your system to connect to the broadband link and your iPhone you need more that the single connection you have
you have various options
Connect to broadband via Ethernet cable and share the Internet with the iphone via wireless.
or
Add a second wireless card to your system
or
Connect the iphone and the other system to each other and the Internet via a wireless router (preferred method)
thanks, and now tell me please how to do this first: Connect to broadband via Ethernet cable and share the Internet with the iphone via wireless.... I try a few times to share,but.....thank you very much... hvala puno....gooo partizan belgrade!!! :)
You will need to connect a standard Ethernet cable between the computer and the DSL modem, (the box supplied by the internet service provider).
This should give you internet access on the computer
Once you have this access open windows help and search for "ICS" - this will provide step by step instructions for setting up Internet connection sharing
Like most of you I was using WPA- ad hoc and my iphone was not connecting.
However connectify worked a treat: Connectify for Windows - Turn your Laptop or Smartphone into a Secure Wi-Fi Hotspot
Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum, I ran into this problem today and found the responses on here to be sort of useful... however the solution I found was much simpler than many of the suggestions here. The FIREWALL needs to be enables to allow internet sharing. I found that the way the ad-hoc wi-fi is set up initially is important. I'll try to give a blow-by-blow account as best as I can... I apologize if this seems basic to most but I figure any newbies may want something like this.
01. In my control panel I go to Network and Sharing Center
02. I then go into the Manage Wireless Networks
03. Press Add
04. Then Create ad-hoc Network
05. Press Next
06. Put in the name you want for the network, have the security type as WEP and the security key as what you want and mark save the network
07. Then click next ... this should set it up and take you to the network ready to use page... HOWEVER... you are not finished... you may see that there is a allow windows to share internet or something like that. Click on that. IT'S the firewall that is blocking it!
08. Once you do that then it should work with no problem.
My iPhone connected straight away to it with no issues. I then did a test to see if it would work with the WPA2 but it didn't... why I don't know... but that is how I solved the problem. Make sure the firewall allows internet sharing and have it set on WEP.
Hope this helps.
