Why People Bridge Connections?

I have been doing networks for over 12 years and I never had a situation where I had to bridge a connection. What reasons would someone have to do it?

Is it because they don't have a router and they are trying to use their computer/desktp as a gateway/nas and want to port forward to the xbox 360

I use bridging between a LAN connection and a Wireless connection, on a machine with internet access, to a machine without internet access. Cross-overcabling as per my sig dogg!

Why do people do this, i'm a person with own will and technique, so i cannot really comment on others.
