    windows 7 windows server 2003 r2

Im trying to add a new pc to domain and get the following error "An active domain controller (AD DC) for the domain XXXX could not be contacted. Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly". I have 10 pcs and laptops (XP, Vista etc) which connected with no problem. I am positive of the domain name but no luck. ANy help would be greatly appreciated...

Are you adding the client to the domain from the server? That is the way you really want to do it, or you may not have access to all of the resources that you need.

You didn't mention what version of W7 are you trying to get joined. Only Pro, Enterprise and Ultimate can join a domain.

Can you ping the server at all?
