Can't connect to Internet !! HELP!!

I got this Sony Vaio (vgn-nw270F) labtop about a month or two ago. Only recently have I started having these internet connection issues. At first, it would still let me connect, and access the internet, but it would randomly reset every once in a while. Now...it says I am connected to my modem but I have no internet access.

I've googled this issue and have tried many solutions, but none of them have worked for me. I'm starting to get really fustrated.

I've tried resetting my modem and messing around with the wires many many times.
I doubt the problem is my wireless because I can still pretty much connect to other internet connections.

    Please Help

    Hi,

    Welcome to 7 forums :).

    * Did you try updating your wireless driver?

    * Check if there is any magnetic device placed near the WIFI router.

    * Do you have any other computer to check if the Internet connection is good ?

Try connecting directly to the router and see if it's the same thing?

Here is a partial list of what to check. It is for Vista, but in this situation that does not make any difference.

Hi, thanks for all the replies.

It says my wireless driver is up to date ; and there isn't anything magnetic around my labtop.

I'm currently going through the xp list, hopefully that will help .

... but as of yet, my computer still has the same problem.

Um, isn't this the wrong forum to post a Networking problem?

If it's a laptop, check to see if WiFi isn't turned off Laptop Button or HotKey.

So the mains cable to the modem became loose and that causes connection problems?
