Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit SP1

See if her Anti-virus and/or firewall program is working correctly .... a program may be trying to reach the internet (for updates) and it's not allowed, so it's timing out.

Also make sure the clock on the XP is set at the correct time.

Start > Control Panel > Device Manager

Then scroll down to Network Adapters, open it up. Screenshot it.
