Internet connection Hi All
Just clean installed Windows 7 on a dell 4600 and was a smooth install everything worked great, Installed from USB thumb drive only took about 20 min, went throught all the updated and installed anti-virus etc etc. last night I looked and saw the little icon pop-up and say new updates were ready to install, I hit button and went back to installing wireless printer at some point I hav to reboot the computer and forgot about the updates after the reboot I have lost internet connection?? I have a NETGEAR wireless set up running roadrunner High speed, I have two other computers runnign off the wireless and they are fine, tried running the fix and repiar program and it says you have lost connection to internet but could find no problems. Any suggestions about this Issue???
thanks for any help

Don Hi Don and welcome
I suspect you are using homegroup as networking. Homegroup is for win 7 machines only. If you are using XP< or vista as well you should be using workgroup. Use these to leave the homegrooup. Homegroup - Leave Then create a workgroup and it should work.

In which case you should uninstall the recent updates using the posted guide. After that you can hide that rogue update by right clicking on it and set to "hide update" so it won't install again. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8 Pro, CPU Q9650-4.275GHz, E8600 4.5GHz, E6750-3.8GHz Motherboard Evga 780i FTW Memory G.Skill PC2 9600 1200Mhz 5 5 5 15 2T Graphics Card GTX480 Sound Card Asus Xonar D2 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG Screen Resolution 1680X1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU ThermalTake Toughpower 1000Watt modular Case ThermalTake XaserV Cooling Xigmatek S1283 Hard Drives GSkill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSD Internet Speed T1 |
