Play file locally and stream?
I'm looking to play a/v files locally, but stream them while playing so that I could, if necessary, grab a stream in mid-play on another machine and pick up right where I left off.
For example, I'm watching a movie or whatever in the living room, and decide to move into the kitchen for some snacks. I want to grab my laptop, start [whatever media player] there, and have it play right from where the file is on my main computer.
I'm sure VLC can do this, but the gazillion options they have to go through in that app is a little confusing. Is there an easier way to do something like that?
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate on the Desktop, and have various laptops with XP, Vista, and flavors of Linux on them. We're all behind a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router running Tomato v1.24 firmware, if that matters.
