| Windows 7: Taskbar and recent RDC's |

Taskbar and recent RDC's I have always had Remote Desktop Connection pinned to my taskbar. When I opened a new RDC that i've never done before, it would save it at the bottom under "recent."
So I've always right clicked on the RDC icon on the taskbar and selected my desired connection, or pinned that new recent connection. Now it doesnt do that anymore... Recent isnt even listed anymore.
Does anyone know what caused this? | My System Specs |

Hello BJP,
Double check to make sure that you have Recent Items turned on still.
Hope this helps,

Are you trying to pin the new RDC while it is still connected. I only have one RDC, so I cannot try with a new one to test it. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 & Windows 8 Enterprise CPU Intel i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz (O/C 4 Ghz) Motherboard ASRock X79 Extreme11 Memory 32 GB (8GBx4) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card SB Recon 3Di Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Corsair Hydro H100 Hard Drives 256GB OCZ Vector

No, let's say I add a new server to my network. I go to Start, Run, mstsc. I type in the new address/name, then once I authenticate to the server, it adds it to the Recent Items on the "already" pinned icon. But thats what it's not doing anymore. FWIW, I have about 20 pinned RDC's. | My System Specs

It is. RDC is pinned, and has been since day 1. I'm just saying that my RDC jumplist isn't showing Recent Items anymore. Unless I am misunderstanding your comment | My System Specs

What is your jumplist setting in " Customize start menu"? If it's 0 (zero), you won't see entries in the jumplist. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Just off the top of my head - I think there is a maximum number of items that you are allowed to have on a jump list
this number would include the pinned items if you reach this number by pinning items, that the function will no longer be available to display recent items | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II

OK, I did check the number allowed and they were set at 10, so that was fine. BUT I figured out something...
When I clicked on the start menu, I went up to the pinned RDC jump list from there (instead of the pinned icon on the taskbar) and the recent items showed there. I went back down to the pinned icon on the taskbar, and NOW the recent items show....
Sounds like there was some sort of bug in software... | My System Specs | | Taskbar and recent RDC's problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:36 PM.
