10/100/1000 vs 10/100

would an upgrade to a gb router be noticable from a 10/100 for gaming?

i know the majority of cable/dsl subsciptions are within the limits of 10/100, but would a gb connection get rid of 1 more bottle neck to improve latency enough to notice?

i was looking at the motorola 6120, and i have a gb nic, just trying to decide on whether or not to drop an extra $50 on the router.

on a side note? has anyone heard good things on the motorola 6120 on docsis 2.0 systems?

It would be noticeable if you were to transfer from one machine to another. a huge difference. but from the internet, unless you have a higher download than 100 meg no difference at all.

Unless you're router is pretty old, as in has something like a 10Mb/s WAN port you'd be stuck at download speeds around 7-8Mb/s. Other than that, above poster nailed it.

I use to have router with very limited WAN port, but was bought a long time ago by someone else and didn't realize it. Went 2 years at 8Mb/s speeds - bricked my router, now at 25Mb/s down.
