I have two machines on my home network, XP and Win 7. They are both in the XXX_OFFICE workgroup. I have shared folders on both machines, they can both access each other, and I have mapped network drives. I set permissions fro Everyone to read/write. I also have a shared printer on win 7.
When it works its ok and everything works. But then something happens and the XP machine starts thinking the win 7 box is on the wrong workgroup "WORKGROUP" and then nothing works. Win 7 says it is in the XXX_OFFICE workgroup, but XP says the Windows 7 box is in "Workgroup". I can still access the shares by typing in the IP of the win 7 box like
