Windows 7, Wireless and SBS 2008

Hi guys,

I'm having a problem with some windows 7 machines on a SBS 2008 domain.

Recently i have joined two completely different windows 7 pro machines to a SBS 2008 domain. One is a Toshiba laptop and the other is a custom built desktop. Both connect using wireless. However both machines get the same problem.

Both can access the network shares, printers etc and can browse the network. Neither can access the internet. I have uninstalled and updated drivers on both machines. I have tried using various DNS servers, but both can ping websites anyway. I have also tried connecting using no security on the wireless. The router has the most up to date firmware.

When i reset the ip stack and reboot the machines this solves the problem until another reboot.

If anyone has any idea that would be brilliant.

Thanks in advance

So the ping works, just that you the internet pages cannot be displayed. Do you have Firefox that you can try?

Also check Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN settings..is it Automatically detect settings, and proxy not ticked?

Yes I have tried both Firefox and Chrome. Proxy settings are not ticked and Automatically detect settings is ticked.

Can you go into regedit in the following location, and see if "ProxyEnable" is there, if the value is set to 0x0000000(1), right-click it, Modify and put in 0.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]

See how u go.

A little more information. One of the users took the laptop home and connected to her home wireless without any problems, this points me towards and SBS 2008 DNS problem. I'll let you know what I find out.

Cheers
