How to create private exchange server?

Hi there,

I'd like an exchange server on my private ftp/cpanel account. Something that supports push etc. so as soon my server receives an email i got it in my outlook 2007 and/or on my iPhone with push notifications. Is it possible to create an exchange server on Windows 7? Or can it be on my web host? I haven't got a clue about it, not sure how it works.

Can anyone help?

If you're referring to Microsoft Exchange, that's a *very* expensive and complex package that runs only on server OS's like WS2008.

You're better off just setting Outlook to check for mail on a regular schedule.

Otherwise you're looking at setting up your own mail server. There are packages out there. Try looking up open source mail servers for Windows and it brings up quite a list.

Thanks for your opinion. I will stick to m.gmail.com which uses ms exchange which is quite nice because as soon as the email reaches the server I get an instant notification.
