    Hi Liam,

These are my figures for attenuation and noise margin:

I note from your post that you have only just gone live with broadband. It will take a short while for these figures to settle, possibly a fortnight (14 days) or so.

thanks for the reply mate is there a way i can get these settings changed? its just with my line attenuation and noise margin being so high its affecting my broadband speed, im supposed to have a 3 to 4 meg line and my downstream is showing 2777kbps downstream and 1023kbps upstream, i know wat u mean about letting the line settle but if it stays as it is can i maunally sort these settings out?

    thanks again

What router are you using and is this a wired or wireless connection ?

Don't know about Virgin but with BT you are advised not to try altering anything for at least 10 days while the line stabilises they do tell you that in those first few days the speed will fluctuate up and down and speed tests will not give an accurate reading.

cheers for the reply mate im using a wired connection for my main machine, im using the netgear DG834G V5 I thought they might be able to change my profile like talk talk used to do to give me a stable connection its just the noise on the line is like 64db down stream which to me is high and i feel this could be the problem with my slower speeds

I would imagine that noise on the line would be a fault that you would have to sort out with the people that you pay your line rental to.
