Any reason why i dont use Nod32?

Its very strange though that Eset security v4 is working fine on my work PC running 7068. No network problems at all.

I have very minimal experience with Nod. I know it wanted me to turn my head and cough and blow my nose into a tissue for lab evaluations. I think i was clean.

Its very trigger sensitive (paranoid) in my short use of it. I cant really give it a fair review honestly, didnt have it running long enough... maybe a few days or a week. Alot of ppl seem to swear by it. I have Avast, never tried before, and it works just fine for my needs.

Ok thanks. Ive been using NOd32 for about three years and never had any problems or infections until now so i would like to give it a try first as i know my way around it.
If not ill try Avast or Norton.

    Cheers.

Is the free version of Avast ok to use or should i be looking at one of the paid for versions?

    Thanks

free version, works for 60 days i think, then you reg your email and they send you a key that works for a year i think. (i have yet to register a copy, or have it installed long enough on a 7 install to worry about registering yet). Look up more info under system security forum or software forum for more user input and reviews/opinions on it.

My network consists on two PC's, one running XP pro connected via Wifi and my main PC running both XP pro and W7. this is connected via LAN to my router.
We have two laptops, both running XP pro and both connected via WiFi.
then there is the PS3 and Media streamer.
All are using static IP addresses and the openDNS configuration.
All are runing under the same workgroup name (dynamite). This is because when i take my laptop in to work i connect via LAN and this is the name of our work group. Just saves me having to change it when i get home.
If using XP on my home PC i can see and access everything as long as its all switched on. With W7 and without Eset SS i can also now do this.
My biggest problem was with my streamer. It has a network browser on it and when using XP as soon as both PC and streamer were booted up the work group would be available on the streamer and i could use it. With W7 the work group would take ages (40 mins was the longest i saw) to appear.
Still, it turns out it was either Eset, 7068 or a combination of both. Certainly i still had it with 7077 last night but taking Eset off has cured the problem.
Now if i go to network in W7 everything comes up.
Saying all that my work PC that has both Eset and 7068 has no problems seeing every thing. This was an update and at home it was a clean install.

    Hope all that makes sense.

i would look into the OpenDNS. I have read minimal on it, never used it. This could very well be the problem with the hang.... tho i havent thrown on 68 for size at all either.

But now i dont have the hang (and never have with all my other PCs) so while i dont really understand all this DNS stuff its all working fine now.
