very slow ftp uploads when they work

everything else is working fine.

the site i am working on is hosted by easyspace and they suggested using their online ftp client. i tried that and ftp transfers both ways failed.

I'm a total donut.

Bitdefender has something called stealth mode. I turned it off and everything is working perfectly now.
