Disable Password-Protected sharing and Guest account

Helloh,

I was trying to share some media from my W7 computer to an XBMC-classic console. It used to work fine with Windows XP + Simple file sharing but i had to fiddle around a little bit in Win7 to get it to work, one of the things I did was to enable Sharing without password.

This however has a side-effect, that the Guest-account is able to log on locally to the computer as well. I believe this wasn't the case in XP Simple File Sharing, the guest account would only be used as a way to access fileshares.

Is this possible in Windows 7? I really do not want the Guest-account as an option on the logon-screen.

I suspect you are running homegroup. Homegroup is for win 7 machines only. Since you have a classic on you should be running the workgroup model instead. Workgroup also allows you to run without password should you need.

I've read through pages and pages of search results for this, but they all seem to be between Win7 and XP, or something not quite the same as my problem. Here at home we are all using Windows 7 (a mix of Home Premium and Ultimate). I have an HTPC which has all our DVDs on. This PC has a few...

My friend and I share my laptop. Recently I found out that he was watching porn on my computer. So I promptly confronted him, and told him to stop. Weeks later, he did it again. Password Protected Sharing
Hey Guys, Just noticed a very weird behaviour. In Advanced Sharing Settings, when I select "Turn off password protected sharing" under 'Home or Work' it also turns it off under 'Public'. When I turn it back on under 'Public' it turns it on again under 'Home or Work'. This kind of defeats the...
