Still no luck with connecting wirelessly.......
Hello! I have the EXACT same problem as the fellow above and I'm not really clear on how he solved it. I can see a very strong wireless signal from the home network I am trying to connect to, but it just tells me that I am "unable to connect". With help I was able to download some network setups for my wireless network at school and connect there, so I know the wireless works, but just not at home.
Acer Aspire 1830T, Windows 7 Home 64bit, the network is WEP, radio type: 802.11g, Motorolla modem plugged into an airport extreme
My gf has an Asus laptop with a atheros ar9285. The other day I changed the energy usage option with hopes to boost the signal (via a tutorial) which didn't worked.
Then lastnight and this morning the wifi was out and the machine is sitting right next to our Belkin wifi router which is properly configured in her Net/sharing options. The machine connected to the net with no problem through the wired connection
I checked the Action Notification center and exited out of the Wireless Console 3 icon and rebooted and the wifi connection came up just fine.
so give it a try
I'll try that as soon as I get home, but it seems odd that I'd have to change something on my laptop when it has no trouble connecting at school. My suspicions lay more with the airport extreme, but unfortunately I know very little about modems.
I checked the Action Center but couldn't find any trace of this "Wireless Console 3" icon. Could you be a bit more specific on its location? Thanks.
I've a somewhat similar problem. I have two wireless networks in my home each with its own router. I can connect five of my computers to each of the networks with no problem at all. Some use XP, one uses Win 7 and one uses Win Vista. I have a recent AIO running Win 7 that will only connect to one of the networks although it shows a signal strength of excellent for both of them. I'm connected to one of the networks and then I try to connect to the other. I get a message that the computer is unable to connect and then it reverts automatically to the prior network. I use the same SSID, WEP codes, etc. as on the other computers but this one simply refuses to connect. Any ideas?
