Want a solution on 2 problems

    Hello,

    I'm new here..

I got 2 problems with my network..

    1:

I got 2 computers running Win 7 x86... One is the laptop I use regulary and one is my HTPC (ASRock ION 330HT-BD).

My problem is to set up a Homegroup. I can set it up, but the other computer don't find it. I've tried to set it up on both, same problem. Why ??

This problem leads to my second,

2: Since I cant set-up a Homegroup, I set-up a FTP-server (Bulletproof 2010) on my HTPC. It works, I can connect and upload/download. The problem hee is the Upload speed. I dont get higher speed then 2 MB/sec. Why ? Its on my local network ??

My laptop use wireless connection and my HTPC is wired....

    Plese help..

Are both computers running the same version, ie: both using Windows 7 Ultimate?

Yes, both running Windows 7 Ultimate x86...

Only differents is that the version on the laptop is norwegian (installed after I installed the OS) and the other one is english.... Is that the problem on the Homegroup thing ?

Are you running any third party security applications (firewall, antivirus, etc)? If so, have you tried uninstalling them to see if homegroups start working?

You can always configure the computers to be part of the same workgroup (which is basically all that homegroups do, anyway). If you choose to do that, make sure each computer is not part of a homegroup, then just set up the same workgroup on both comptuers and enable file sharing. There are tons of guides on how to do this, and here's one of them:

Okay, I'll try that... I'm running Nod32 as antivirus on both computers, that's it..... Well, Windows Firewall is running too...

    Solved!

    Haha, damn I'm stupid

Seems like the problem was that both computers had the same network name... Changed the name on the other computer and then it found the homegroup at once... Hehe

Thanks anyway.. ohhh, is it really possible ?? With me? YES
