Sharing Media with PS3

I have upgraded my notebook to 7 Business edition. And before when i was using Vista i have always been able to use the sharing files feature to stream media and play on my ps3. I have no idea why after i installed windows7 it wouldnt let my ps3 find my notebook. I have already set the sharing option on the "Video" folder.

Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem? I am using DD-WRT160N router with custom firmware (i forgot which one).

thank you everyone in advance!

I don't have the answer you are looking for but there are 2 good free PS3 media servers that you can download.

TVeristy TVersity - Home
or
PS3 Media Server Downloads - ps3mediaserver - Project Hosting on Google Code

PS3 Media Server is very good and does convert on the fly also. TVersity works with other hardware besides PS3.

Now i tried using Ps3 Media Server, but for some reason it saids it cannot connect to my ps3.

I'm currently using WRT160N (dont know which version) router by linksys. Is that the reason why i cannot share files over the network? It worked before when i was using Vista Media centre edition.

Please someone give me a light to solve this problem

you got my pm.

also it most likely that your router is blocking it(the connection between your ps3 and pc).

try what i said to you over pm.

I have the same problem with my PS3, I have the same router, but am using neros media home 4.

Homegroup needs to be set up to allow sharing (even if you have no other Windows 7 pcs), also it only seems to work with WEP security, not wpa2.

Made the changes and now my PS3 picks up both the windows & the nero servers.

Not to happy with wep security, but it's the only way around it.
