upgraded modum, now I have no wireless!

I upgraded my modem yesterday so that I could have faster internet service. Now my laptop running Windows 7 cannot to our network. I get the error message that:

'Windows cannot connect to the hidden network "default" (My network is called default, not very original, I know).

If anyone has a solution to this very annoying issue, I would love to hear from you!

Thanks very much in advance,

Are you connecting wirelessly, or are you using a wired connection? If you wish to connect wirelessly, you will need to use a wired connection initially to configure both your computer and router/modem. See the instruction manual that came with your modem for details.

What is the make of your router? Sounds like you're going to have to log in and configure your device.

I have a D-Link 802.11g/2.4GHz modem which I understand was discontinued last year. Our other notebook running Vista works fine with the new modem (albeit after some tinkering) but the notebook running Win 7 gets no where. The computer is new, when I first brought it home (and when I still had the old modem) it connected right away with no issues.

Do you think I need an upgraded modem? Where would I go to "configure" this modem? Any advice you might have is greatly appreciated.
