Hi all
Some rumours of build 7105 suggested that Networking support has been improved from 7077.
Wwhether 7100 will be the official RC seems a bit dubious now if it hasn't been released to testers yet .
Nobody has hinted on the various Forums that it has been released.
In build 7077 one can say that the networking map etc STILL needs work on it before it's ready for prime time.
Maybe that's why rumours of build 7105 refuse to die.
Build 7077 X-64 definitely does "strange things" with the Network Discovery in hiding / unhiding computers. It seems to have a mind of its own whatever you as a user do.
(Installed via Clean install not upgrade).
I've temporarily gone back to build 7068. Will have another look at 7077 later if build 7105 (or 7100) doesn't appear in any of the usual places in the next few days.
That's the advantage in keeping separate partitions for the OS -- it only takes around 20 mins to restore an image -- can't be bothered with double booting different builds of Windows 7.
Why it should be so difficult for Microsoft to get Network discovery to work properly AND PREDICTABLY I really can't understand.
I never had any trouble with Linux -- define all your shares on a Samba network and just type /SMB: in any browser and computers just show up. (They had this stuff working YEARS and YEARS ago).
Cheers
